Maruti will offer it with a range of over 500 kilometers, although it will be available only in front-wheel-drive (FWD) form.
Overview: Maruti eVitara
The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara has arrived on dealership display ahead of its launch in March. It is Maruti’s first EV and was showcased at the Auto Expo 2025.

This electric compact SUV will be manufactured in Gujarat, India, and exported to international markets, for which Maruti has invested Rs 2,100 crore.
It will likely be available in three variants: Delta, Zeta, and Alpha, with features including Level 2 ADAS, 7 airbags as standard, and a powered driver seat with front seat ventilation.
It has two battery packs and is claimed to offer a range of over 500 km.
Features and Tech
The E Vitara will get a 10.25-inch touch screen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.1-inch all-digital driver display, ventilated front seats, a 10-way powered driver seat, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, and connected car technology.

The safety kit will include 7 airbags and Level 2 ADAS as standard. Other features could include an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist and ADAS.
The e-Vitara comes with a front-wheel drive option with 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs. The 61 kWh units are claimed to offer a range of over 500 km.
The motor produces 144 PS and 192.5 Nm or 174 PS and 192.5 Nm, depending on the battery pack.
Design & Style
The Maruti e-Vitara looks robust and has a two-box, upright silhouette, but some of the elements are toned down, like its sharp edges and creases, and larger alloy wheels – 225/55 R18 tyres are standard on the e-Vitara.

It will be available in 10 colors with four dual-tone options.
Design details of this 4,275 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,640 mm tall eSUV include tri-slash LED daytime running lights at the front and rear, a charging port on the front left fender, a prominent bulge on the rear wheel arch, and a C-pillar mounted rear door handle.
Maruti says the e-Vitara has a 5.2-metre turning radius.
The dashboard layout of the E Vitara is different from other Maruti cars on sale in India, and its highlights include a floating 10.25-inch screen for the infotainment and instrumentation console, a 10.1-inch instrument cluster.
Two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, rectangular AC vents with brushed silver surround, physical buttons for climate control, and partly fabric, partly leatherette upholstery.
Engine & Performance
Based on a skateboard platform (codenamed: 40PL) developed in collaboration with Toyota, the e-Vitara for India will feature 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs, using BYD’s LFP (lithium iron-phosphate) ‘Blade’ cells.
The 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs are powered by front-axle mounted motors that make 143hp and 173hp respectively; torque on both is the same 192.5 Nm.
Maruti hasn’t revealed range details yet, but it says the larger battery pack will offer an MIDC-rated range of over 500km.
Maruti has also announced a new ‘E for Me’ strategy under which it will set up fast chargers at dealerships in the top 100 cities, a dedicated charging app, and over 1,500 EV-specific service centres in over 1,000 cities.
Price and Variants
Maruti will reveal the price of the e-Vitara in March. It will compete with the Mahindra BE6 (Rs 18.90 lakh-26.90 lakh), Tata Curve EV (Rs 17.49 lakh-21.99 lakh), and MG ZS EV (Rs 18.98 lakh-25.75 lakh).
The e-Vitara will be produced at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, which is scheduled to account for 50 per cent of its production.
